It’s starting to fade. The unquestioned backing by Jewish Americans for the State of Israel is slipping.  As author Allan C Browfield discusses, Zionism actually has a short shelf life among Jewish Americans. Before 1948, it was condemned by most Jewish leaders as a turning away from the real meaning of Judaism and instead buying into the nationalism that got us the first world war. Even today, there is concern that Israel is being used by the great powers. It’s been a divisive discussion of late, but it may turn out to be positive and productive.
