The right to organize is a basic human right. So says MIT professor and co-director of the Institute for Work and Employment Tom Kochan. In the face of decades of assaults against workers rights, this election year holds realistic hope of mutually beneficial cooperation among labor and management. The Market Basket case is a great example; it showed that there is mass community support for fair labor practices. Putting pressure on congressional wannabes is key at this important juncture. Optimism is not unreasonable.
