The government of Spain wants it to all just go away. But over 100,000 civilians were murdered without a trace by the fascist Franco government during and after it’s civil war, and now volunteers are combing through Spanish earth digging up bones. The Association for the Recovery of Historical Memory just received a $100,000 grant to continue their work despite government wishes to hide the truth. Democracy was murdered in Spain in 1936 and many think today’s government can’t be allowed to cover up any more. The recovery of historical truth is part of a big struggle for truth and justice in the present and future. On this show, first a scholar of Spanish history and culture, followed by the emotion of a 90 year old man looking for the grave of his brother.
