Now with the nomination of not just a woman, but a woman of color,  they feel even more threatened. Today’s right encourages and seeks to use men’s anger in the culture war, even though those very policies actually harm working class men. In their fear and rage at the gains for equality, as Washington Monthly editor William Norris notes, Sen. Josh Hawley and the others legitimize violence and what many see as “toxic masculinity” in an angry attempt to reassert lost white male dominance. They have reason to be scared.
