You know the saying “hurt people hurt people.” Well, our guest argues “healed people heal people.” Most of us look away from the terribly failed system of justice, but Notre Dame Professor Jason Springs offers us a new path that is working. What we have now only multiplies harm whereas we can repair the harm and hold people accountable. Putting people in cages fails to do that. Restorative Justice is not “soft on crime,” it just works far better. Putting as, he says, “the neighbor back in the ‘hood,” is already working in Chicago.
