Four out of five voters today live in flyover states, their votes don’t really count, they are mere spectators. But it’s no longer a question of if, but when: whoever wins the popular vote will become president. National Popular Vote needs 270 votes from the electoral college and they currently have 222 from 19 states. To make it happen, people just have to contact their state, not federal, legislators, as NPV is initiated at the state level. It’s a myth that in a popular vote NY and CA would overpower the small states. In fact NPV would empower rural voters.
