Nasir Shansab was a successful business leader before he was forced to flee his native Afghanistan with his life in 1975. At the time of the rebellion against the Soviet backed government and the rise of the Taliban, he had breakfast with Osama bin Laden, and took an immediate dislike to him. Shansab is a leading expert on Afghanistan and in this interview talks about what the US could and should be doing, and what Afghanistan might look like after the departure of US troops in 2014. Interestingly, he suggests it may divide into two nations, one north, one south. He also explains why Afghanistan is important to the people of America.
