Even Fox News is openly admitting that Donald Trump’s policies are destroying the American farm industry. The agricultural heartland has been solidly ruby red for Trump but, as farmer and advocate Anthony Flaccavento writes in The Nation, there’s a Farmer’s Revolt rising. They’re in constant debt, chaotic tariffs are killing them, and they are disallowed from repairing their own equipment. And as American farmers like to be independent of handouts, Trump wants to buy off their support with a selective $12 billion compared to $40 billion for farms in autocratic Argentina. America First seems to really mean China first. Since the days of FDR, farmers had been a solid base for Democrats, and on this show Flaccavento tells what Democrats can do now to re-connect with the massive farm vote. Now is a time when trust can be rebuilt at the rural grassroots level.
